  I had high hopes for an entertaining evening with some friends that were quickly dashed when it became apparent that Burien Little Theater was not doing a stage production of The Rocky Horror Show, but were in fact attempting to recreate the movie on stage. This production is simply an awful mess from start to finish. The director makes a fatal assumption that the audience will be intimately familiar with the movie (a couple of my companions were not, and were at a complete loss to understand anything that was happening); and the cast succumbs to playing caricatures instead of characters. The encouragement of audience participation (even if it were appropriate) was an unnecessary distraction, drowning out half the dialogue on stage. While the band drowned out half the lyrics to the songs (I couldn't even hear the backup vocals, and I am familiar with enough of the music to know what I should've been hearing, but wasn't). Eight of us nearly walked out at intermission. Collapse
